TITLE: Color Study - Indigo

SIZE: 10" x 10"

FRAME: Maple

MEDIUM: Wool yarn, wool fabric strips, wool roving

PROCESS: Rug hooking (wool fabric strips), needle felting (wool roving), punch needle (yarn)

ABOUT: This mixed media piece is created with needle felted wool roving, rug hooked fabric strips, and punch needled yarn on primitive linen (the linen is left exposed around the edges of the colorful circle, like a matte in the frame). The piece is framed in a wooden floater frame and has wire for hanging on the backside. Featured as part of my first solo exhibition Carolina Color Study at Limestone University in 2022, the Color Study series showcases hues inspired by specific environmental things that make up the regional color palette here in the Carolinas.
