It's a little curious, this life-sized organ made entirely of felt. But hey, Felted Curiosities is what we do!
Heart Dimensions: 7"
Jar Dimensions: 10"
A human-scale anatomical heart has been handmade out of wool fiber through the time intensive but always rewarding craft of needle felting. No sewing is involved, no glue, no hot water...just a bundle of wool fiber, a specialized felting needle, and lots of patience. Vibrant red wool layered with crimson fiber makes up the majority of the heart, accented by veins and of course the crown of the aorta up top. The organ is stylized: it's not quite cute, not quite gross, but in the beautiful between!
**This listing is for one HUMAN-SCALE anatomical heart AND a small glass apothecary jar. I also sell the heart without the jar if you prefer, and the heart is also available in three sizes. These options are available in the Felted Curiosities section.
In addition to the felted organ and the glass specimen jar with lid, you will also receive a sticker label to secure to the outside of the container, which makes this quirky gift all the more personal. If you're shipping this gift directly to the recipient and would like me to fill out the label and attach it, I'm happy to do that for you. Please let me know in the "note to seller" box at checkout.
On the label, you'll get to fill out things like:
- Type of Specimen
- Date Given
- Message boxes to check including: "Take care of me", "I bloody love you", or "I beat just for you" ... just to name a few! You can also add your own message in the blank space at the bottom.
I do make other felted organs, but you wont always find them in my shop so please contact me about pricing and lead times for potential custom orders. To date I've been commissioned to make following: brain, lungs, intestines, stomach, kidneys, spleen, bladder, uterus, gallbladder, tonsils, and an appendix.
I've been honored to have my handmade hearts featured on Etsy Finds, www.thisiswhyimbroke.com, and part of an award winning ad campaign (Gyro Denver - 2013).
